POSITION SUMMARY
Marathon Petroleum Company LP (MPC), a recognized leader in the energy industry, has an opening for a Personal Safety Manager at our Galveston Bay Refinery (GBR) on the Environmental, Safety & Security (ESS) team.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages compliance with safety regulations, industry practices, and MPC initiatives by developing and supervising the implementation of safety policies and procedures, implementing corporate safety initiatives, and evaluating compliance with safety policies and procedures. Supports site emergency planning and response efforts. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of component processes, engineering controls, administrative controls, injury & illness controls, and new safety developments that will impact the organization including the development and advancement of construction, major projects, and/or turnarounds. Drives strategic improvement of internal processes and programs by using strong interpersonal skills to influence individuals and teams. Develops and implements safety audit programs and oversees completion of corrective actions resulting from audits. Maintains effective leadership and engagement through field with area teams. Fosters a culture of safety and trust with employees, internal customers, and contractors through collaboration and alignment of goals, programs, and initiatives. Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPI) for safety and ensures these are communicated to component staff on a routine basis. Develops corrective action plans to maintain KPIs within accepted target ranges. Forecasts staffing requirements and coordinates with the Safety Manager on the recruitment and hiring of qualified personnel. Manages a team of both salary and hourly employees that support refinery area operations.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
