Industrial HSE Lead — Hazardous Waste Incineration At Clean Harbors' Aragonite, UT incineration facility, you'll be the on-site champion for environmental health and safety—driving compliance, shaping culture, and keeping people safe in a complex, heavy-industrial environment. Although the title sits within operations, the emphasis is on leading and managing safety systems and protocols end to end. You will report directly to the Facility Manager, receive mentorship from senior H&S leaders, and be positioned to grow into senior EHS leadership. A day in your boots Start by scanning safety performance dashboards, recent permits, and overnight logs; prioritize focus areas for each operating line. Walk the units, check PPE adherence, and coach teams ahead of high-risk tasks like confined space entries and hazardous waste transfers. Facilitate JSAs, verify LOTO, and audit safety-critical procedures; close gaps with quick-turn corrective actions. Partner with operations during turnarounds, shutdowns, and abnormal conditions; coordinate emergency drill participation and readiness. Lead or support incident investigations, run root cause analyses, and drive corrective/preventive actions to completion. Summarize trends for site leadership, align on priorities, and hand off clearly to the next shift as the primary H&S point of contact 24/7. Key responsibilities Own safety leadership for incineration operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal standards. Serve as the primary health and safety contact across all shifts. Conduct incident investigations with root cause analysis and corrective action planning. Run internal safety audits and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Track, analyze, and report HSE metrics and leading indicators. Support emergency response planning and drills. Oversee hazardous materials handling, confined space entry controls, and PPE requirements. Train, coach, and mentor employees on best practices and safe work behaviors. Collaborate closely with operations during turnarounds, shutdowns, and emergencies. Maintain open availability for rotating shifts, call-outs, and weekend support. Schedule and environment Standard office hours: 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Availability for day/night shifts, weekend call-outs, and emergency response is required.

Heavy industrial setting:

confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and elevated noise are part of the job. Qualifications 5+ years of health and safety experience in heavy industry (required).

OSHA 500

certification or the ability to obtain it (strongly preferred).

HAZWOPER

40-hour certification with current refresher (required). Associate's degree minimum; Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field. (10+ years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.) Working knowledge of WSDS/MSDS, hazardous waste policies, and applicable regulations. Skilled in conflict resolution, coaching, and team leadership. Proficient with computers for documentation, reporting, and analysis. Valid U.S. driver's license.
