Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will operate various types of commercial vehicles to safely transport passengers, including children, seniors, and individuals with special needs, ensuring timely and secure arrivals. Your expertise in traffic laws, vehicle operation, and safety procedures will help us deliver exceptional service while maintaining the highest standards of passenger safety and comfort. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in our community through reliable and compassionate transportation. Duties Safely operate buses, transit vehicles, or specialized transportation vans in accordance with all state and local driving laws and regulations. Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including wheelchair assistance and other mobility support. Follow all traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures during daily routes. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical soundness and report any issues promptly. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers, addressing their needs, and managing behavior when necessary. Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments to ensure on-time arrivals while prioritizing safety. Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger counts, safety checks, and incident reports as required by company policy. Skills Proven experience driving buses or transit vehicles, with a strong understanding of school bus driving, paratransit services, or commercial driving standards. Knowledge of child care practices, student discipline policies, and behavior management techniques for working with children or seniors. Familiarity with vehicle codes, heavy lifting techniques, emergency stop procedures, and mechanical knowledge for vehicle troubleshooting. Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingual skills are a plus for serving diverse communities. Strong understanding of traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures related to transportation. Excellent customer service skills combined with clear communication abilities to assist passengers professionally. Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or route disruptions while maintaining safety protocols. Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; previous teaching or childcare experience is a plus. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and maintain alertness during long shifts.
