As a Safety Technician for a utility-scale solar electrical subcontractor, you will support the implementation and maintenance of safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. You will work closely with the Safety Manager and other team members to promote a culture of safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.Key Responsibilities :
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards. Assist in the investigation and documentation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses. Provide safety training and orientation for new hires and ongoing training for existing employees. Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gear. Maintain detailed records of safety activities, including inspection reports, training logs, and incident reports. Assist in the development and implementation of emergency action plans. Work closely with the Safety Manager, project managers, and site supervisors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.Working Conditions & Physical Requirements :
Lifting and Carrying:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.Standing and Walking:
Prolonged periods of standing and walking across uneven terrain.Climbing:
Climbing ladders and scaffolding to access different parts of the installation.Bending and Stooping:
Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to install and inspect components.Manual Dexterity:
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and small components.Weather Conditions:
Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.Safety Gear:
Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots. Previous experience as a safety technician or in a similar role, preferably in solar or electrical construction. Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to construction sites. Strong observational, analytical, and communication skills; ability to conduct thorough investigations and write detailed reports. Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30 andOSHA 510
