full-time Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist Department of Public Works & Facilities The Town of Natick is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to join the Department of Public Works & Facilities. This is an exciting opportunity for a safety professional who is passionate about protecting employees, promoting a strong culture of safety, and supporting environmental compliance across municipal operations. The EH&S Specialist will play a key role in developing and maintaining effective workplace safety programs, coordinating regulatory training and compliance activities, conducting inspections and accident investigations, and partnering with Town departments to identify risks and implement practical solutions. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate
DLS/OSHA
training and regulatory compliance programs. Develop and implement workplace safety policies, programs, and training. Conduct safety inspections, hazard assessments, and accident/incident investigations; recommend corrective actions. Monitor safety practices and promote continuous improvement and a proactive safety culture. Collaborate with Town departments and employees to identify hazards and implement practical solutions. Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and safety partners. Support environmental compliance and maintain required safety and compliance records. Stay current on applicable OSHA, DLS, MassDEP, EPA, and other regulatory requirements. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 1+ year of EH&S, safety, or regulatory compliance experience, preferably in a related setting. Working knowledge of OSHA, Massachusetts DLS, MassDEP, and EPA regulations. Experience with safety programs, inspections, hazard assessments, and accident/incident investigations. Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret regulations and effectively communicate requirements to employees at all levels. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with departments, employees, and regulatory agencies. ASP, CSP, or other relevant professional certification preferred.

The FY2027 Pay Grade C11 salary range is $61,334.50 - $73,300.41 annually with step increases outlined in the union agreement.
