Superintendent Position Summary:

The ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and monitoring infection control containment systems on healthcare construction and renovation projects. This position ensures compliance with Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) requirements, Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), OSHA regulations, and healthcare facility standards to protect patients, staff, and visitors during construction activities. The ICRA Technician works closely with project managers, healthcare facility personnel, safety managers, and construction teams to establish and maintain clean, safe, and compliant work environments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Infection Control & Containment Install temporary infection control barriers, containment walls, and dust partitions. Construct and maintain negative air containment systems. Install and monitor HEPA-filtered negative air machines. Verify proper negative air pressure using monitoring equipment. Perform daily inspections of containment areas to ensure compliance. Install sticky mats, zipper doors, anterooms, and temporary access systems. Seal penetrations and openings to prevent dust migration. Maintain clean transitions between construction and occupied spaces. 2. Environmental Monitoring Conduct daily pressure differential monitoring and document results. Inspect HEPA filtration systems and replace filters as required. Monitor air quality and containment integrity throughout project duration. Report deficiencies immediately and implement corrective actions. Maintain environmental monitoring logs and documentation. 3. Construction Support Assist project teams with containment planning before project startup. Coordinate containment modifications as construction progresses. Support demolition and renovation activities while maintaining infection control standards. Perform daily housekeeping within containment areas. Assist with final cleaning and containment removal at project completion. 4. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with: Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) requirements Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) OSHA regulations CDC infection prevention guidelines Facility-specific infection control policies Joint Commission standards (where applicable). Participate in preconstruction planning meetings. Conduct routine safety inspections of containment areas. Report unsafe conditions immediately. Maintain required PPE and ensure proper usage. 5. Documentation Maintain daily ICRA inspection reports. Complete pressure monitoring logs. Document HEPA filter maintenance. Record corrective actions and containment inspections. Assist in preparing compliance reports for clients. Maintain project documentation for regulatory audits. 6.

Equipment Maintenance Inspect and maintain:

HEPA negative air machines Air scrubbers Pressure monitoring equipment Temporary barriers Portable containment systems Power tools and hand tools. Report damaged equipment and coordinate repairs 7. Customer Service Represent the company professionally within healthcare environments. Coordinate with infection prevention staff and facility representatives. Communicate containment status and project impacts effectively. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while working in occupied healthcare facilities.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required. Technical training in construction, facilities maintenance, environmental services, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of construction or healthcare facilities experience preferred. Experience working in hospitals or healthcare facilities preferred. Experience installing temporary containment systems preferred. Experience operating HEPA filtration equipment preferred.
