Job Description
Ultium Cells Overview:
- Ultium Cells is a joint venture Lithium-Ion Automotive Battery Cell Manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors.
- Position Description
- The Safety Specialist will focus on improving Health and Safety at the Ultium Cells facility by using their experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong health and safety culture.
Manufacturing Launch and Readiness:
- + Support the commissioning of facilities and production equipment + Support and participate in onsite launch activities + Support the development of Task Based Risk Assessments
Safety Management System:
- + Support adoption and implementation of the Workplace Safety System + Drive the development of Ultium Cells specific safety and health standards + Deliver annual Ultium Cells facility health and safety goals and objectives to the workforce
Learning and Development:
- + Support Manufacturing Learning and Development in the identification and facilitation of the Training Management System and the affective launch of site-specific health and safety training. + Support delivering New Hire and Contractor Orientations + Ensure effective auditing, observations, and reporting of compliance with safety standards and procedures.
Emergency Response:
- + Participate in the plant's Emergency Response Planning Process

- + Communicate and work effectively with operations, construction, plant floor teams
- Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- + OSHA 30/ASP/CSP or willingness to receive certifications + 0-3 years of experience in General Industry and a manufacturing environment + Ability to work selected weekends, holidays, and night shift (8pm-4am) + Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA and state/local regulations and requirements + Must be comfortable working in a team setting + Skill in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports + Positive attitude, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals + Strong attention to detail and organization + Must be willing and able to travel 10-15% of the time •Your Skills & Abilities (Preferred Qualifications)•+ Knowledge in Lasers, Ionizing Radiation, and Non-Ionizing Radiation + Proficiency in Process Safety Management (PSM) + Familiarity with Combustible Dust practices + Previous experience in working with on-site contractors + Bilingual proficiency in Korean and English + Sufficient knowledge of Ergonomics + Previous experience in a startup environment is advantageous + Previous experience in a Union setting + 3+ years of experience in General Industry and a manufacturing environment + Associates degree or some higher education •Your Physical Abilities•+ Ability to stand for extended periods + Capable of walking on variable surfaces for extended durations + Proficient in climbing stairs and/or ladders + Aptitude for lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds •
