Essential Duties This internship will provide an opportunity for safety students who are currently pursuing a degree in safety sciences or safety management to get hands-on experience working with safety professionals in a metal manufacturing organization. Interns will be called upon to support a variety of activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Duties to

Include:

Developing multiple Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to reduce risk and improve productivity Performing a chemical inventory at the Johnstown and Windber locations, collecting & uploading Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to company data base Conducing Industrial Hygiene (IH) sampling at the Johnstown and Windber locations Evaluating the selection and distribution of fire extinguishers at the Johnstown and Windber locations Developing a corporate contractor safety program Additional duties based on curriculum Education Level Must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior in a Safety Sciences or Safety Management degree program. Experience Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with JWF Industries employees and customers. Work requires experience using Microsoft Office programs. Physical Demands While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to have the ability to concentrate and perform responsibilities by maintaining a constant state of focus and mental alertness. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands (including gripping & grasping) and reach with arms, including reaching overhead and outward frequently. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee will frequently walk. The employee must be able to lift and/ or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision requirements such as color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are also required. Work Environment While in Production areas, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. There is frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to wet and/ or humid conditions and extreme cold or heat, and a risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.
