contract at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. This is an opportunity to apply occupational safety expertise in a unique research and operational environment. The selected candidate will work directly with NASA organizations, engineers, facility personnel, researchers, and contractors to manage safety risks associated with laboratories, facility systems, construction activities, and specialized NASA operations. Position Responsibilities Conduct occupational safety surveys and inspections involving general industry, construction, laboratories, facilities, and other technical operations. Work with Goddard organizations to identify hazards, evaluate risk, and develop practical controls that allow work to proceed safely. Prepare clear technical reports documenting observations, regulatory requirements, corrective actions, and recommended solutions. Communicate safety risks effectively to employees, supervisors, engineers, researchers, and senior management. Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team evaluating field-level hazards and resolving complex safety concerns. Apply risk assessment methods to facility systems and high-hazard NASA operations. Review architectural and engineering plans for new construction and facility renovations to determine compliance with applicable safety, fire protection, and building codes. Perform design reviews, code analyses, and compliance evaluations involving NFPA standards, the Life Safety Code, the National Electrical Code, the International Building Code, and OSHA requirements. Support construction safety assessments and field inspections. Develop and teach occupational safety courses, including CPR and First Aid training. Respond to calls from the Security Operations Center involving medical emergencies, fires, hazardous materials, environmental incidents, and Incident Response Team activities. Research emerging or unusual safety issues and recommend technically sound, workable solutions. P referred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, engineering, fire protection, or a related science/technical discipline. Broad knowledge of occupational safety principles and OSHA general industry and construction standards. Working knowledge of NFPA standards, the Life Safety Code, the National Electrical Code, the International Building Code, and fire protection requirements. Experience conducting safety inspections, facility assessments, construction evaluations, or design drawing reviews. Experience applying risk assessment methods to facility systems or high-hazard operations. Construction safety experience is a plus. Experience developing or delivering safety training is preferred. Strong technical writing, research, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team and communicate with a diverse technical workforce. Federal Holidays Schedule:

8-hour shift, 40 hours per week Monday-Friday. Some flexibility with hours and some possibility for telecommuting. Physical Requirements Must be able to perform the following essential job functions: Occasionally lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 35 pounds. Remain standing or walking for extended periods while conducting field inspections, surveys, and emergency response activities. Climb stairs and ladders and access elevated work areas when necessary. Bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in restricted areas during facility and equipment inspections. Safely navigate construction sites, mechanical spaces, laboratories, uneven surfaces, and indoor and outdoor work environments. Wear required personal protective equipment, which may include safety footwear, hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and respiratory protection. Work in environments that may involve noise, temperature changes, dust, odors, moving equipment, or other controlled workplace hazards. Respond promptly and move safely through facilities during emergency or incident response activities.
