Day/1st Shift, The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting environmental, health, and safety programs to promote regulatory compliance, reduce workplace risk, and foster a safe working environment. This role serves as a subject matter expert for day-to-day EHS activities including safety inspections, regulatory compliance, incident investigations, employee training, hazard assessments, and environmental monitoring. The EHS Specialist partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, Human Resources, and leadership to support continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as the subject matter expert for environmental, health, and safety programs by providing guidance and recommendations regarding regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and safe work practices. Administer environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and procedures to support compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Working knowledge of

Conduct safety inspections, compliance audits, hazard assessments, and environmental evaluations; identify hazards, validate corrective actions, and recommend process improvements. Lead workplace incident, injury, near miss, and environmental investigations; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs, including new hire orientation and required regulatory training. Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, Human Resources, and leadership to support risk assessments, process improvements, equipment implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor EHS performance metrics, regulatory compliance, environmental programs, and corrective actions; prepare reports and recommendations to support business objectives. Maintain required permits, inspection records, training documentation, SDS files, regulatory reports, and other EHS compliance documentation. Support lithium-ion battery emergency preparedness, battery storage safety programs, thermal runaway response planning, and emergency response protocols in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Support emergency preparedness activities, regulatory inspections, third-party audits, and interactions with regulatory agencies. Champion 5S, safety initiatives, employee involvement, and continuous improvement activities that strengthen workplace safety and environmental compliance. Follow and support all safety procedures, PPE requirements, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Knowledge of
ISO 14001, ISO
45001, and management system auditing principles is required. Minimum 4 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in manufacturing, automotive, industrial, warehouse, or distribution environment Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations Ability to conduct incident investigations, safety inspections, compliance audits, hazard assessments, and root cause analysis Experience developing and delivering employee safety training programs Experience supporting environmental compliance and regulatory reporting preferred Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety principles and regulatory requirements Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills Ability to interpret regulations and communicate compliance expectations across all organizational levels Ability to analyze safety data, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management software preferred Ability to manage multiple priorities while exercising sound independent judgment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, forklifts, chemicals, varying temperatures, and outdoor conditions as required Ability to walk the production floor, warehouse, and facility for extended periods while conducting inspections, audits, investigations, and safety observations Ability to climb stairs and ladders, bend, reach, crouch, kneel, and occasionally access elevated or confined work areas as required Ability to lift materials or equipment up to 25 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. occasionally while performing inspections or supporting EHS activities Comfortable wearing required PPE including safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, and other protective equipment as required Ability to operate standard office equipment, use computers for extended periods, and perform field observations throughout the facility Ability to respond to workplace incidents and support emergency response activities during off-shift hours, weekends, or holidays as operational needs require
