Position Summary The Head of Security is responsible for the overall safety strategy of The Carson Center, ensuring a secure, welcoming, and well managed environment for all patrons, artists, staff, and partners.
This role leads all security operations across events and daily building activity, balancing strong risk management with a high level of guest service. The position serves as the primary liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services and plays a key role in emergency preparedness, planning, and response. Key Responsibilities Security Strategy and Operations Lead and maintain all security policies, procedures, and protocols for the organization Conduct ongoing risk assessments and proactively address vulnerabilities across the facility Oversee building security beyond event activity, including day to day operations and long term planning Serve as primary contact for law enforcement, fire, and emergency management agencies Leadership and Team Management Recruit, train, and lead all security personnel, setting clear expectations for professionalism and guest interaction Build a culture that balances safety with hospitality and customer experience Develop and lead training programs focused on emergency response, de escalation, and situational awareness Manage scheduling, staffing levels, and labor alignment with event needs Event Planning and Execution Partner with programming, production, and operations teams to assess security needs for each event Develop tailored security plans based on event type, audience profile, and risk level Lead all security operations during events, maintaining visibility and leadership presence on the floor Participate in advance meetings with tour management when required Compliance, Reporting, and Accountability Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations Maintain detailed records of incidents, investigations, and outcomes Track and report security related expenses for event settlements Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior leadership Qualifications Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in security, law enforcement, or public venue operations Experience in live events, performing arts venues, arenas, or similar environments preferred Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage teams in high pressure environments Excellent communication skills with both internal teams and external partners Current CPR and First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations
