Technicians and gain ALARNG membership, all current federal employees, all U.S. Citizens Duties Help Duty 1. 40% Receives, reviews, and submits requests for personnel clearances for serviced civilian, contractor, and military personnel. Checks the request for completeness and accuracy and contacts the Security Manager, Supervisor, points of contact the serviced units, and/or the individual subject of the background/clearance investigion for any questions or corrections th are required. Returns those forms requiring further documention or correction. Screens personnel, as well as local police records and finance documents for disclosed and undisclosed derogory informion, which may have an impact on the career of the subject under investigion. Questions the subject for clarificion on responses th are considered derogory. Forwards completed form to the approprie agency for investigion and clearance determinion. Duty 2. 30% Uses computer software such as analysis tools to research and facilite work. Maintains a file for stus of pending investigions, stus of all members, as well as periodic reinvestigions for secret and top secret clearances held. Checks with the agency performing the investigion for an upde on the stus of the security clearance in question as required. Notifies the units of individuals requiring reinvestigion and resubmission of documention. Provides reports, as required, for stus on pending or current investigions or periodic reinvestigions. Composes documention, for supervisors' signure, verifying security clearances for those individuals going on Temporary Duty (TDY) to other locions and requests the same of locions with individuals coming TDY to their locion. Documents all personnel suitability adjudicive determinions or recommendions in the relevant automed informion systems. Ensures all systems of record accurely reflect the suitability adjudicive determinion. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to remain current in the field and for being applicable to work assignments. Duty 3. 15% Performs duties reled to assisting suitability adjudicions/determinions for the fitness and suitability of civilian employees, contractors and/or applicants for initial and continuing employment retention. Ensures all investigive files are available prior to reviewing and rendering a suitability adjudicive/determinion in accordance with suitability guidance and guidelines. Orders any missing investigive files and upon receipt, reviews and analyzes all investigive files for derogory informion. Provides written and oral communicion to appointed adjudicor regarding minor derogory informion found in the investigive file. Duty 4. 15% Executes established policies and procedures required for the personnel security program. Implements and executes policies and procedures in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulion (CFR) Title 5, Part 731, Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, 1402.05, AR 380-67, Army Directive (AD) 2014-23 regulions and ARNG policies. Ensures th sensitive/classified informion is not disclosed and is safeguarded in accordance with regulory guidance. Properly protects informion governed by the Privacy Act of 1974. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
1 year equivalent to least GS-7. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupion in the organizion.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Comprehensive knowledge of personnel security concepts, principles, and applicion
  • Ability to effectively evalue applicion packets for security clearance eligibility
  • Ability to identify and report violions of adjudicive guidelines to the approprie authority as described in current stutes and regulions
  • Ability to research, organize, analyze, and synthesize informion from a variety of automed systems across multiple DOD, Federal, and ste agencies.
  • Knowledge of investigion and re-investigion processes to initie and conduct follow-up in the approved automed system(s)
  • Ability to determine eligibility for access to classified and controlled unclassified informion and granting personnel security clearance and access in the presence of minor derogory informion
  • Skill in oral and written communicion sufficient to write reports, conduct presentions, and/or clearly communice personnel security processes, regulions, or training.
