Gap Security Officer - Unarmed Allstate Security - 3.5 Grover Beach, CA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $25 - $28 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Customer communication Guard Card Full Job Description Gap Security Officer - Unarmed Cannabis Dispensary / On-Call Coverage Position Summary The Gap Security Officer is responsible for providing reliable, short-notice security coverage when regularly scheduled Security Officers are unavailable due to call-outs, vacations, scheduling conflicts, or other unexpected staffing needs. This position requires a high level of flexibility, dependability, and availability, as assignments may vary by day, shift, and location. Gap Officers may not have a permanent weekly schedule and will primarily be contacted when additional coverage is needed. While assigned to a dispensary location, the Gap Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the premises, employees, customers, and property while providing professional customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide short-notice and emergency shift coverage when regularly scheduled Security Officers are unavailable. Maintain reasonable availability for open shifts, call-outs, vacations, and other coverage needs. Be prepared to work varying schedules, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Arrive on time and remain for the entire assigned shift unless otherwise authorized by management or Dispatch. Become familiar with and follow the Post Orders and site-specific procedures for each assigned location. Provide a visible security presence at entrances, exits, and other designated areas. Monitor and control access to the facility and assist with ID verification or screening when required by site policy. Conduct interior and exterior patrols as required. Observe and report suspicious activity, security concerns, safety hazards, or policy violations. Respond appropriately to theft, trespassing, loitering, disorderly conduct, and other security-related incidents. Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and access-control systems when assigned. Assist with employee escorts, closing procedures, deliveries, and other security-related duties as directed. Respond to medical emergencies, fires, disturbances, or threats to safety and contact law enforcement, EMS, Dispatch, or management when appropriate. Complete accurate Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports, and shift hand-off documentation. Maintain regular communication with Dispatch regarding arrival, departure, incidents, and changes in assignment. Maintain professionalism, discretion, and strong customer service when interacting with employees, customers, vendors, and members of the public. Be willing to accept assignments at multiple designated locations based on operational needs. Qualifications and Requirements Minimum 21 years of age. Valid and active California BSIS Guard Card. High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous security experience in retail, cannabis, customer service, or other high-traffic environments preferred. Reliable transportation and the ability to report to assigned locations as scheduled. Ability to accept shifts with limited advance notice when available. Strong attendance and punctuality. Strong observational and situational-awareness skills. Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies or confrontational situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to learn and adapt to different Post Orders, client expectations, and site procedures. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Gap Coverage Expectations This position is specifically intended to provide supplemental staffing coverage and should not be considered a guaranteed fixed schedule. Gap Officers may be contacted to cover: Employee call-outs and absences. Vacation or approved time-off coverage. Unexpected schedule vacancies. Emergency or last-minute coverage. Temporary staffing shortages. Additional client-requested coverage. Open shifts while permanent staffing is being established. Officers are expected to communicate their availability with Scheduling and respond to coverage requests in a timely manner
