This position will handle 200 units. In order to qualify for this position an employee: Must meet the highest possible standards. In addition to general knowledge of safety & security, the Residential Safety Officer must have a basic working knowledge of liability, fire & safety prevention, use of force, powers of arrest, emergency procedures, liquor laws, Customer service, report writing, and investigations. Must be the first responder to sick and injured residents, guests, and employees. Must provide a safe and secure environment and be aware that Safety and Security is of the highest priority. Must be able to follow the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan, and have the ability to read all safety and warning labels and follow written and verbal instructions. Must have the specific ability to follow & give technical instructions. The Employee will be expected to: Keep your appearance and demeanor neat and groomed. Uniforms should be pressed and clean. Exhibit confidence and show you are in control of the situation. Male personal should report to work with a cleanly shaven face and neat haircut. Adhere to guard schedule as approved by supervisor and according to the needs of the property. Be visible in the public areas when not on any assignment. Patrol and inspect your areas proactively and often. Perform effective observations by choosing a location giving good views of entrances, exits and open public areas. Greet fellow employees and residents but refrain from loitering. Treat all residents, guests, and employees with respect. Be productive by making inspections for hazards and other problems. The Employee's responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Assist Management with prompt delivery of messages and notices. Assist with all after-hours Resident requests for minor housekeeping or maintenance. Check and note all maintenance requirements during your rounds, i.e., doors, phones, lights, etc., and document all safety-related hazards and communicate it to the appropriate department. During your rounds and security checks make yourself highly visible to residents and staff/be accessible. Patrol all areas of assigned property to include all floors, stairwells and service areas, meeting rooms, front lobby and outer perimeter. After hours, ensure all exterior doors and office rooms are secured if not in use. During floor checks ensure service areas, maid closets, residents' doors, and fire extinguishers on all floors are secure. Test and check all emergency exits in the building at least once during the first hour of your tour. Control all after-hours access to loading dock and roll up doors. Control all after-hours access into all freezers and package storeroom. Control access to all high-priority keys and keys to kitchen. Direct visitors and vendors to the proper area after signing them into the visitor log and issuing them a visitor badge. Review all logbooks and board memos within the first hour of your tour for new/changed information to avoid any misunderstandings. Closed Circuit Television video is classified as records and is covered under Federal and State privacy laws and company policies. Staff requesting to view any video must receive approval from the Manager. Only the Director or Assistant Director of Operations shall release the video and any associated records, unless the tapes become part of a Law Enforcement investigation which will require a court order subpoena to obtain any video copies. Video that has been subject to a review shall be retained until directed to dispose. Share and pass on to the relief Residential Safety Officer, any and all information pertaining to orders, instructions or incidents regarding his/her tour of duty. Familiarize yourself with all property activities and scheduled events. Learn emergency evacuation plans and know where contact information is for owners, supervisors, managers and other employees. Keep proper documentation of incident reports, and other events related to the property. Read recent memoranda, directives, bulletins and e-mail. In some instances the employee will: Perform any and all requests from management personnel related to company business. Assist resident's guest and visitors by providing directions and answering questions. Perform preliminary investigations and prepare concise and accurate incident reports. Conduct follow-up. Respond to all codes and emergencies and give aid and assistance as needed. Assist all management when needed in security matters. Complete shift activity log upon return to office from patrol. Be alert for smoke, gas or other odors associated with danger. Call for assistance if met with a situation that appears to be dangerous or too difficult to handle alone.
