Job Description

Duties :
Under the supervision of the Information Security Supervisor, the Information Technology Intern is responsible for the following: Participate in AI design and training. Participate in compliance testing and remediation. Participate in network analysis and securing networks. Participate in system auditing and testing. As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned. All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team building activities, as assigned. Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures. Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; support all aspects of the District's safety program. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions :
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Education :
Current high school or college undergraduate student (Sept 2026 - Dec 2026). This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and college undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.
Experience :
Previous experience with information technology is preferred.
Knowledge and Ability :
Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule. Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Suite and the Windows operating system. An interest in computer and network security. Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Linux and MacOS operating systems; security testing tools, methodologies, and documentation. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
