A Security Officer provides security for property at hospitals, hotels, warehouses or office buildings. Monitors entrances and patrols buildings, watches for intruders or vandals; reports building maintenance problems; deals with customers or visitors that create a disturbance in the building.

Job Description
Essential knowledge, skills and abilities: Graduation from high school plus a valid Minnesota driver's license. Proficient driving skills. Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally. Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions. Ability to withstand verbal confrontation from the public and to be courteous and tactful to violators. Ability to read and understand signs. Ability to write legibly and accurately record information. Ability to complete work assignments, take and understand directives. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse ethnic and socioeconomic groups in a wide variety of situations.
Physical and/or environmental requirements:
Employee will possibly be required to work outside in all weather conditions at a fixed post or roving post as directed. Ability to walk for long periods in all weather conditions. Good near and distant vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to hear conversational voices. The work also requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending or stooping. Must be able to stand for eight (8) hours a shift. Must be able to run intermittently as required (responding to medical or other emergency). Must be able to carry 10- 15 pounds continuously (equipment for job, belt, jacket, etc.). Must be able to lift 10
- 20 pounds regularly (signs, barricades, etc.). Must be able to move 30
- 50+ pounds occasionally (move a car or person).

This position will work at the University of Minnesota- Morris campus.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday Weekends as needed 30 hours per week Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer aSTEM OPT
