Job Description

Hiring Monday thru Friday, 2nd shift (3 pm - 11 pm). Manage 24-hour Crisis Line. Document and track all crisis line calls and client interactions and respond appropriately. Assess client needs and offer assistance in every manner practical. Follow all policies and procedures of Safe Haven. Review Policy & guidelines with clients at the time of entrance. Prepare rooms for clients. Maintain a calm shelter environment; and assist in keeping the shelter clean and free of spills, trash, and safety hazards. Prepare intake packages. Receive and put away donations on your shift. Perform other duties as assigned by the Shelter and Services Director. Provide an immediate and professional response to any security /safety emergency or disturbance within or immediately outside the facility.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Experience in the Human Services or related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bi-Lingual in Spanish a plus, not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work well independently. Must work well under pressure. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Committed to working with victims of domestic violence. Must be flexible. Ability to multi-task. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment. Computer knowledge. Must possess a high degree of common sense. Must be empathetic and caring.

Sitting, walking, lifting up to 20 pounds, reaching, carrying, speaking, and listening.

Work environment:

An environment of fast pace of crisis intervention. Protocol for safety and security is a priority. Use of phones, in-person assistance, computer, and other general office machinery.

Pay:

$15.00 - $16.00 per hour
