Job Description

Security Officer -
Part-Time Schedule:
Part-Time | 16 guaranteed hours per week / 2 shifts per week
Shift:
7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 11:00 PM-7:30 AM, based on assigned position
Rotating Schedule:
Week 1: Sunday & Friday Week 2: Monday & Saturday or Tuesday & Saturday, depending on assignment Every other weekend required Holiday coverage required: 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday Additional shifts may be available for call-offs, ETO, and department needs. Additional coverage is generally optional but may be required during emergencies.
Contract Details Contract:
13 weeks initially, with potential extension or conversion to a permanent position based on performance, work ethic, and department needs.

Unarmed Security Officer Hours:
16 guaranteed hours per week Position Overview The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, and others throughout the hospital. The officer will monitor facilities, respond to security concerns and incidents, assist patients and visitors, perform traffic and parking control, and document security-related events. This position requires the ability to work independently as the sole Security Officer assigned to the shift , while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with hospital staff and the Security team. Required Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent. Experience Previous Security Officer experience is not required . Candidates without direct security experience may be considered. Stable work history is strongly preferred. Certifications & Licensing Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record/MVR. Must be eligible and approved to operate a ProMedica Security Cruiser. IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment. Certification is not required before starting. CPR certification will be completed through the employer. Required Skills & Abilities Basic computer skills. Ability to accurately document and report incidents, accidents, hazards, and security concerns. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, employees, and the public. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to operate a security vehicle. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including assisting with and restraining combative patients when necessary. Ability to work the assigned rotating schedule, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts when applicable. Flexibility to provide additional coverage when needed. Key Responsibilities Promote and maintain a safe and secure environment throughout the hospital. Monitor hospital facilities and respond appropriately to safety and security concerns. Respond to incidents requiring Security involvement. Assist patients, visitors, and staff with questions and directions. Regulate and control traffic as needed. Perform parking enforcement and traffic control duties. Operate the ProMedica Security Cruiser as required. Investigate and report accidents, hazards, security concerns, and incidents. Accurately document security-related events and activities. Assist with restraining combative patients when necessary and in accordance with established policies and training. Apply appropriate de-escalation and response techniques when handling challenging or aggressive situations. Follow all Security policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Maintain required training and certifications. Work independently as the only Security Officer assigned to the shift while communicating effectively with hospital staff and the broader Security team. Training At least one week of on-the-job training will be provided alongside another Security Officer. CPR certification will be completed through the employer. Two days of De-escalation and Response to Resistance and Aggression training will be completed at headquarters in Toledo. Training is paid, and mileage is included. Candidates who do not already hold IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification must establish a plan to obtain it within the first 6 months. Preferred Qualifications Prior Security Officer experience. Hospital or healthcare security experience. IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification. Associate degree in security or a related field. Stable employment history. Previous experience requiring strong communication, reliability, teamwork, independent judgment, and interaction with the public. Important Notes This is an unarmed Security Officer position; firearms are not carried. Only 16 hours per week / 2 shifts per week are guaranteed . Driving is an essential part of the position. There is one Security Officer assigned per shift . Candidates must be comfortable working independently and responding to security situations throughout the hospital.
