Full Job Description Role:
Armed Security Officer responsible for providing visible deterrence, ensuring safety, and protecting hospital staff, patients, visitors, and assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct frequent patrols of facilities and grounds, identifying security issues and trends. Respond promptly to emergency codes, disaster events, and service requests via various communication channels. Investigate incidents, document reports accurately, and enforce hospital policies and legal regulations. Assist with parking control, lost and found items, and support clinical/non-clinical staff with patient or visitor issues. Operate security equipment including CCTV, radios, paging systems, and generate electronic reports. Report safety hazards and promote a safe environment by observing and responding to hazards. Handle emotionally charged situations, including aggressive behavior, and assist with restraining or supporting patients and staff.
Qualifications & Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum two years of armed security experience preferred, with law enforcement or healthcare security experience advantageous. Proficiency in handcuffs, baton, handgun, non-crisis intervention, and radio communication. Ability to handle stressful, potentially violent situations and physically perform security duties. Excellent communication, decision-making, and multitasking skills. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; required certifications vary by state. Completion of required training including de-escalation, firearms, defensive tactics, and drug testing.
Additional Requirements:
Must be physically fit, alert, and capable of long periods of walking, standing, and lifting. Flexibility to rotate between facilities and respond to emergency situations as needed. Must obtain and maintain necessary licenses and certifications within specified time frames.
