Approximately 7:30 PM-12:30 AM Job Overview We are seeking a vigilant, professional, and dependable Event Security Officer to provide security for a private, ticketed 21+ Halloween event at The Cipher Lounge in Historic Downtown McKinney. This role will focus on maintaining a visible security presence, monitoring guest behavior, assisting with entry control, preventing unauthorized access, and responding appropriately to incidents. Because this is a hospitality environment where alcohol will be served, the ideal candidate will have strong conflict-management and de-escalation skills and experience working in bars, lounges, nightclubs, private events, or similar environments. The goal is to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests and staff while handling security matters professionally and discreetly. Duties Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the event. Monitor the main entrance and assist staff with controlling access to the private, ticketed event. Assist with maintaining the event's 21+ admission requirement . Monitor the lounge, patio, entrance, and guest areas for unsafe or disruptive behavior. Identify guests who may be excessively intoxicated, aggressive, or creating a safety concern and promptly communicate concerns to management. Use professional conflict-management and de-escalation techniques when addressing disputes or disruptive behavior. Assist management with removing guests who are disorderly, threatening, or refusing to comply with venue policies when appropriate. Help prevent unauthorized individuals from entering or re-entering the private event. Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, or other security-related incidents. Contact or coordinate with law enforcement or emergency services when circumstances require official intervention. Document significant incidents and provide management with accurate information regarding security-related events. Work collaboratively with The Cipher Lounge management, bartenders, servers, hosts, and other event staff. Remain alert, professional, and completely sober throughout the assignment . Skills Previous experience in event security, bar/nightclub security, private security, law enforcement, military service, or a related field preferred. Strong conflict-management and de-escalation skills. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in potentially tense situations. Excellent situational awareness and ability to identify potential problems before they escalate. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Ability to maintain authority while interacting respectfully with guests and staff. Physically capable of prolonged standing and walking throughout the assignment. Reliable, punctual, and able to remain on-site for the entire scheduled event. Familiarity with incident reporting and emergency-response procedures preferred. Must meet all applicable Texas licensing, registration, and legal requirements for the security services being performed. This is currently a one-night contract opportunity for our Halloween event, with the possibility of additional event-security assignments at The Cipher Lounge in the future.
