[Full-Time / Part-Time / Per Diem] Position Overview Crystal Cove Post Acute is seeking a dependable and professional Healthcare Security Officer to provide overnight security coverage in our skilled nursing facility. This role supports resident, staff, and visitor safety while maintaining compliance with federal and Washington State regulations. The Healthcare Security Officer addresses overnight risks such as elopement, unauthorized or after-hours visitors, and drug activity, while serving as a visible deterrent and professional presence throughout the facility. Officers are expected to respond to alarms, emergency situations, and safety incidents using verbal de-escalation, sound judgment, and professionalism. Security officers may not restrict resident movement unless there is an immediate safety threat. Applicants must provide their own required security equipment. Key Responsibilities Serve as a visible deterrent through consistent patrols and professional presence Perform routine foot patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and surrounding property Inspect for safety, security, and environmental hazards Secure all facility doors at designated times and unlock at prescribed hours Monitor exterior lighting and emergency access routes Assist with visitor management, including after-hours screening and escorting Proactively and professionally challenge unauthorized individuals Monitor and report overnight risks including elopement attempts, suspected drug activity, and safety concerns Respond efficiently to emergency codes, fire drills, disaster drills, and trauma alerts De-escalate verbally or physically aggressive situations using approved techniques and sound judgment Maintain professionalism and self-control in high-stress situations Utilize computer systems and video surveillance to document and monitor activity Protect security-sensitive areas including therapy gym, dining rooms, resident rooms, common areas, and vehicles Immediately escalate all resident-related concerns to nursing leadership Qualifications Current CPR certification required Ability to remain calm under pressure with strong judgment and decision-making skills Empathy-led mindset with professional communication Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Good physical fitness; ability to lift and drag up to 50 pounds Knowledge of healthcare environments, including common risks and vulnerabilities Ability to build strong working relationships with nursing, administration, and facility staff Working knowledge of computers and video surveillance systems Prior healthcare security or security experience preferred Equal Employment Opportunity & Pre-Employment Requirements Crystal Cove Post Acute is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
