Job Description

Lead School-Age Teacher, Summer 2026 Sunflower Farm's farm
  • and nature-based school program is looking for a dynamic, nurturing, and energetic school age teacher for children ages 5-8. This is a part-time, weekly position Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from June 1
  • August 7, with potential for more hours through subbing and for continuation through the summer and into the 2026-2027 school year.
: Must have experience teaching in a school age setting with children ages 5-8, Preferred candidate is a certified LEAD teacher through the state of Colorado (must possess a Colorado Shines Credential Level II or above, or have a BA in Early Childhood or Elementary Education) Must be willing to complete several required trainings on Colorado Shines PDIS Must be willing to complete a farm walk to review licensing rules and regulations Must be prepared to be both fingerprinted and background checked through the FBI and CBI Must enjoy spending time with children in nature in all types of weather Must be a compassionate, creative, dynamic, energetic, fit, nurturing, and positive individual Must exhibit strong classroom management skills Must be able to plan, prepare, and create meaningful learning activities and lesson plans based on an emergent, farm
  • and nature-based curriculum Must be prepared to be outside on the farm in all types of weather
  • snow, rain, wind, heat, etc. Must have a passion for the outdoors and for farm
  • and nature-based education Must be passionate about the well-being and healthy development of young children Must be comfortable teaching groups of 9 school-aged children Must exhibit strong communication skills with children and families, fellow teachers, and the director of education Our summer program runs from Monday, June 1
  • Friday, August7.
