DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT

: The Brandon School District is a mid-size school district nestled in Northwest Oakland County. The district has approximately 900 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 450 at the middle school level and approximately 600 at the high school. This small, tight knit community has a strong connection to its schools and is passionate about the education of its youth. Brandon High School sends 85-90% of its graduates to post-secondary school each year, it was ranked in the 82nd percentile of all schools in the State on the top-to-bottom rankings and it was awarded as a Silver Medal Winner by the US News. Our elementary schools are both one-to-one technology are each near the 83rd percentile in State rankings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

: High School Diploma Experience working around elementary aged children is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

: Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to problem solve Desire and ability to work effectively with preschool students, parents, and district staff Pleasant, cooperative and flexible with a positive attitude Ability to be punctual and reliable Ability to work onsite within the required building and student schedule Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, lift between ranging between 25 and 50 pounds, and occasionally bend or kneel to assist students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

: Work with students on maintaining building rules and procedures in a positive manner Supervision of children in the lunchroom and on the playground Ensures a safe and orderly environment both in the lunchroom and on the playground Monitor the cafeteria, enforce school rules, and help resolve conflicts among students to maintain a peaceful atmosphere Open food packaging (like milk cartons and wrappers), assist younger students with carrying trays, and encourage healthy eating habits Wipe down tables, clean up spills, and assist in keeping the dining area and surrounding floors clear of trash Guide students to and from the cafeteria and playground, ensuring orderly arrivals and dismissals Performs other such duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee
