Dispensary Manager (Rowley Dispensary)
Job Description
Job Overview:
The Dispensary Manager oversees the daily operations of the dispensary and ensures that the business complies with local and state cannabis regulations. Responsible for hiring and managing staff, training employees, and overseeing the inventory of products. Ensures the business operates within budget.Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides leadership to ensure that retail operations are managed in a manner that supports the organization's mission and brand attributes.
- Models professionalism and serves as a role model to dispensary staff during periods of stress and/or ambiguity.
- Responsible for all retail operations including inventory management, merchandising, displays, patient experience, facility cleanliness inside and outside, and optimal staffing levels.
- Executes and enforces compliance with all Massachusetts state and local rules and regulations governing the marijuana dispensary program and internal policies and procedures.
- Responsible for all dispensary personnel including hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, setting performance metrics and incentives, discipline, and performance evaluation. Maintains high staff morale within a collaborative working environment.
- Charged with in-store marketing and promotions in coordination with Marketing Staff.
- Proactively and regularly communicates with other managers in all departments to ensure safe, optimal dispensary operations and experience for staff and patients/clients.
- Oversees instore maintenance and management of approved vendors for repairs and service of HVAC, plumbing, technology and works closely with Security and Information Technology departments on immediate repairs to security infrastructure.
- Leads monthly Dispensary meetings that review profitability, function, and operations of Dispensary. Including but not limited to, preparing financial analysis, structuring plans and initiatives and reporting on the implementation results of past initiatives and programs.
- Manages the budget and revenue of the dispensary to ensure profitability. Including but not limited to, payroll budget, third-party vendor budget, and operational expenses.
- Personally invested in Cannabis education, research and innovation and is responsible for translating that information to staff in a way that supports their abilities to provide a high standard of consultation and customer service.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in retail sales management or an equitable supervisory role is required. Minimum of 2 years' experience working in the cannabis retail industry. Experience with Metrc is highly desirable. Experience with Point-Of-Sale system Dutchie is highly desirable.Knowledge:
- Administrative - Knowledge of administrative tasks such as answering the phone, taking messages, etc.
- Computer Software — Knowledge and proficiency in basic computer navigation, and Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
- Data Analysis - Knowledge and understanding of Metrc and Dutchie systems
- Knowledge and understanding of retail cash transactions include cash and credit card transactions, calculating discounts, balancing a cash drawer, and cash safety.
- Knowledge and understanding of state and local cannabis laws and how they apply to the operations of Bountiful Farms' products and dispensing of medical and/or adult use cannabis (as applicable for the location assigned).
- Comprehensive Knowledge of Cannabis; its uses, properties, chemical interaction in the body, medical applications etc.

additional requirements:
Must be 21 years of age or older and comply with all legal or company regulation requirements for working in the industry. Passion for cannabis and a dedication to providing quality patient care. Reliable transportation. Ability to work weekends and holidays if needed. Participation in various state-wide cannabis events is required. Fluent in the English language, both verbal and written. Multilingual abilities to assist a diverse customer base is a plus.Physical Abilities:
Ability to walk, stand, or move freely on the dispensary floor for prolonged periods of time (up to 10 hours) Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to assist in the vault in intake large deliveries Reach and twist/turn with hands and arms Climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus Motor coordination is required to coordinate eyes, hands, fingers, and feet accurately and handle precise movements. Speaking or hearing - face-to-face, in person, by telephone, and by video conferencing.Workplace Environmental Conditions:
While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee is exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels. Fast-paced highly regulated retail sales environment requiring attention to detail and adherence to strict compliance policies. Potential to work in high stress situations. Occasional travel to state-wide cannabis events to represent the Bountiful Farms' brand.Schedule Requirements:
- Monday-Friday, occasional nights and weekends required
