POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Operator is responsible for overseeing the performance of assigned machinery to ensure efficient and continuous production. This includes maintaining optimal machine speed, load settings, and other operational parameters to meet production targets. A solid understanding of the machine's mechanical and operating systems, as well as its role within SWS's broader manufacturing process is essential. The operator is accountable for the safe operation of the equipment and for maintaining the quality standards of the products produced.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the operation of a variety of production machinery, ranging from basic to advanced systems, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and properly maintained.
• Ability to operate all Parts Department machinery
• Possess the capability to program machinery for specific production tasks.
• Adjust machine speed and load settings to ensure optimal performance and output.
• Monitor finished products to verify that both quality and quantity meet SME production standards.
• Accurately complete and maintain required logs and documentation related to production, maintenance, and quality control.
• Conduct basic maintenance tasks, including lubrication and routine checks, to ensure machinery remains in good working condition.
• Assist in the supervision and training of Machine Operators B and C to support team development and efficiency.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall production and operational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.

• Prior experience with programming and operating computer-driven machinery is preferred.
• Must demonstrate dependability, reliability, and the maturity required to safely and responsibly operate industrial equipment.
• Possesses strong technical skills and the ability to operate both mechanical and electronically controlled machines.
• Understands the functional mechanisms of the tools and equipment under their care.
• Capable of clearly communicating equipment issues, production metrics, and quality concerns to relevant personnel.
• Exhibits strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate production records, assess product quality, and detect subtle deviations in output.
• Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with co-workers, maintenance teams, supervisors, and quality inspectors.
• Performs additional duties assigned in support of operational goals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift and carry up to 65 lbs. regularly.
• Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods.

• Must be able to work extended hours when necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Industrial warehouse and manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, and overhead cranes.
• Use of PPE such as gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear is required.
• Interaction with team members, leads, and supervisors is frequent and necessary.
