This role independently executes complex maintenance tasks, accurately interprets technical manuals, and provides guidance to junior technicians while ensuring safety, quality, and operational reliability in a fast-paced maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) environment. Responsibilities Conduct basic pre-flight, post-flight, and routine periodic inspections on aircraft airframes and engines. Remove, service, repair, and replace defective mechanical, structural, and electrical components using standard hand and power tools. Troubleshoot system failures in hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, powerplants, fuel, and other aircraft systems to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Accurately log all maintenance actions, part numbers, serial numbers, and inspection findings in aircraft maintenance records and digital tracking systems. Maintain clean and organized work areas in strict adherence to Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention policies and safety protocols within the MRO environment. Perform mandatory inventory checks of personal and company-provided tools before and after each shift to prevent tool loss and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) on customer aircraft. Coordinate with the materials team to order, verify, and track serialized aviation components and materials needed for maintenance tasks. Inspect and maintain ground support equipment (GSE), including hydraulic mules, power carts, and safety stands, to ensure safe and reliable operation. Verify and inspect work performed by junior technicians as required to ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom trucks, and tugs to support aircraft inspections and maintenance activities. Lead team members in safely marshaling, towing, and positioning aircraft using ground tugs and wing-walkers. Complete mandatory regulatory training, aircraft type-specific updates, and safety certification courses, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning. Apply a thorough understanding of hangar safety rules, hazardous material handling and disposal, and FOD prevention in daily operations. Manage changing priorities and respond to urgent, unscheduled maintenance needs during tight aircraft turnaround windows. Perform other related duties as assigned to support safe, efficient, and compliant aircraft maintenance operations. Essential Skills 23+ years of active aircraft maintenance experience, including 3+ years working on commercial aircraft platforms. Airframe certification required; Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license preferred. High school diploma or GED. Strong understanding of FAA regulations, including Parts 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145. Deep knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and electrical systems on commercial aircraft. Ability to read, interpret, and locate information within Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), and Structural Repair Manuals. Proficiency in aircraft maintenance, heavy maintenance, line maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. Demonstrated ability to execute technical assignments independently with minimal supervision. Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Subject matter expertise in airframe mechanical systems, powerplant and fuel systems, avionics and electrical systems, and emergency and interior equipment on commercial aircraft. Ability to work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and in physically demanding conditions, including lifting more than 50 lbs. Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a commercial MRO or airline maintenance environment. Hands-on experience with aircraft, airframe, and aircraft maintenance across multiple platforms. Familiarity with ground support equipment operation and inspection, including hydraulic mules, power carts, and safety stands. Comfort operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom trucks, and tugs. Strong understanding of hangar safety practices, hazardous material handling and disposal in line with OSHA guidelines, and robust FOD prevention practices. Attention to detail in documentation, inventory control, and tool accountability processes. Ability to lead and mentor junior technicians, including verifying and inspecting their work. Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with materials, operations, and maintenance teams. Commitment to continuous professional development through regulatory, safety, and aircraft-specific training. Steel-toed or composite-toed safety shoes required as part of daily attire. Why Work Here? You will join a growing aviation organization that offers clear room for advancement and long-term career development in commercial aircraft maintenance. The company supports continuous learning through regulatory training, aircraft type updates, and safety certifications, helping you expand your technical expertise over time. Tasks often require working at heights from mobile platforms and ladders with appropriate fall protection. The role involves frequent lifting and handling of heavy tools, equipment, and aircraft components weighing more than 50 pounds. You will work around high-decibel noise from jet engines, pneumatic tools, and ground support machinery, making hearing protection mandatory. Daily activities may include handling hazardous materials such as aviation fuels, hydraulic fluids, solvents, lubricants, and sealants, following strict safety and disposal procedures. The environment can involve extreme heat, freezing temperatures, rain, and high winds when working outdoors. Personal protective equipment, including safety shoes (steel-toed or composite-toed), gloves, goggles, and hearing protection, is required.
