Job Summary

Lead A&P Technician | Business Aviation | Amarillo, TX

Lead projects. Work on the aircraft you love. Build a career, not just a paycheck.

Haven Aviation Services Group is looking for a proven Lead A&P Technician to lead maintenance projects in our Amarillo shop. You'll work on business aircraft like King Airs, Citations, Hawkers, Lears and Falcons, guide the technicians on your projects, and help set the standard for quality in our shop.

If you're the tech everyone goes to when something's broken and nobody can figure out why, we want to talk to you.

Why Haven

Variety you won't get at an airline. Pistons to jets, routine inspections to heavy checks. No two weeks look the same.

A vertically integrated operation. Maintenance, charter, FBO and aircraft management all under one roof, so you see the whole operation, not only your bay.

Your input matters.

We run on five values:

Transparency, Results, Inspiration, Alignment and Discipline. Your ideas for improving how we work will be heard and acted on.

Room to grow. As we expand, our leads are first in line for bigger roles.

What You'll Do

Run projects start to finish: take ownership of inspections, repairs and maintenance events, direct the techs assigned to your project, and keep the work on schedule and on quality

Get your hands dirty: perform and oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on engines, avionics, landing gear, flight controls, hydraulics and more

Be the go-to troubleshooter: diagnose the tough, complex problems and see the fix through

Sign off with confidence: conduct inspections and certify airworthiness in compliance with FAA regulations (Part 91 and 135)

Develop your team: train and mentor junior techs, and hold every project to a high standard of quality

Keep it clean and documented: accurate logbooks, work orders and tracking records every time

Work across the operation: coordinate with charter, flight crews and parts to get aircraft back in service

Make the shop better: spot inefficiencies and bring solutions

Requirements

What You Bring

FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate (required)

Inspection Authorization (IA) is a big plus

7+ years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience

3+ years leading or supervising technicians

Strong knowledge of Part 91 and/or 135 operations

Expert troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical and avionics systems

Experience with tracking systems like CAMP, Traxxall or Flightdocs

Ability to read and interpret manuals, drawings and schematics

A sharp eye for detail and documentation

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Bonus points: type experience on King Air, Citation, Hawker, Lear or Falcon, plus heavy maintenance, engine work, structural repair or modern avionics.

What We Offer

Pay:

based on experience and IA

Health insurance, with the company covering 100% of the employee portion

Paid time off and paid holidays

IA Initial and renewal support

Training and type courses

Overtime and on-call pay

Why Amarillo

No state income tax in Texas, so more of your paycheck stays yours

Cost of living well below the national average, so a home of your own is within reach

Short commutes, no big-city traffic

Big skies, friendly people, and Palo Duro Canyon, the second-largest canyon in the country, right down the road

The Details

Full-time, reporting to the General Manager

Day shift, with on-call rotation for AOG and time-sensitive work

Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays and travel for aircraft recovery

Hangar and ramp work in all Panhandle weather

Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces and on ladders

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
