The Access Control Technician will assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control systems. This role involves running and terminating cables, installing devices such as card readers, door strikes, and access panels, and performing basic testing of systems. The technician will work under the supervision of senior technicians, following company protocols and industry standards to ensure all installations are safe, functional, and meet project specifications.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist with the installation of access control devices, including card readers, keypads, door strikes, and maglocks. Run and terminate cabling for access control systems (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, power cables). Mount and install control panels, power supplies, and other system components. Perform basic system checks and testing to ensure functionality and connectivity. Assist with the installation and configuration of access control software and systems under supervision. Follow safety standards and adhere to local and national building codes during installations. Provide basic troubleshooting support for access control systems and assist senior technicians with diagnosing problems. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly stored. Complete necessary documentation for work completed, including system configurations and installation reports.
Requirements :
Basic understanding of access control systems, including card readers, door strikes, and control panels. Familiarity with low voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, power cables, etc.) and basic electrical work. Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams and installation manuals. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Willingness to learn and grow in the access control field. Ability to work in a team environment and assist senior technicians. Strong work ethic and commitment to safety and quality. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work in commercial and residential environments. Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting equipment and working on ladders. #IND1
