We are looking for someone who understands the fire alarm industry, knows how to manage technicians and customer expectations, and can keep service calls moving efficiently from initial request through completion and billing. This position requires a strong combination of technical fire alarm knowledge, leadership, organization, and customer service . Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operations of the fire alarm service department. Schedule, dispatch, and coordinate service technicians based on priority, location, skill level, and customer needs. Review incoming service requests and determine the appropriate response. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to field technicians. Monitor open service calls and ensure work is completed and documented in a timely manner. Review technician notes, deficiencies, recommended repairs, and completed work. Coordinate follow-up repairs and ensure deficiencies do not fall through the cracks. Communicate with customers regarding scheduling, system issues, repair recommendations, and job status. Assist with estimating and quoting fire alarm service and repair work. Coordinate materials, equipment, and parts needed for service calls. Work with manufacturers and vendors when additional technical assistance is required. Ensure technicians follow company policies, safety requirements, and applicable codes. Monitor technician productivity, performance, and workload. Help train and develop service technicians. Coordinate with inspections, installation, monitoring, sales, and office personnel as needed. Assist with emergency and priority service situations. Maintain accurate service records and help ensure completed work is ready for invoicing. Identify recurring system problems and help develop long-term solutions for customers. Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism. Qualifications Previous experience in the fire alarm industry is required . Strong working knowledge of commercial fire alarm systems, troubleshooting, service, and repair. Knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes and standards. Ability to read fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, and product documentation. Experience managing or supervising technicians is strongly preferred. Strong organizational and scheduling skills. Ability to manage multiple service calls, technicians, customers, and priorities simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating with customers, technicians, manufacturers, inspectors, and management. Ability to make decisions and solve problems without requiring constant direction. Basic computer skills and the ability to work with service-management and scheduling software. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: Autocall Johnson Controls / Simplex Honeywell fire alarm products Commercial fire alarm monitoring systems Fire alarm inspections and deficiency repairs Emergency responder radio communication systems (ERRCS/BDA) NICET certification Manufacturer training or certifications What We Are Looking For The right person for this position is someone who can take ownership of the service department.
