ABOUT THE ROLE

Alpha Security & Fire Alarm Services is looking for a skilled Fire Alarm & Life Safety Technician to join our growing field team. You'll be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, and service of fire alarm systems and related life safety equipment across commercial, residential, and industrial properties throughout South Florida. We work with a wide range of systems and manufacturers, and we're looking for someone who takes code compliance seriously, communicates well with clients, and takes pride in work done right the first time.

WHY IT MATTERS TO US

We actively seek NICET-certified technicians and will prioritize candidates who hold Level I or Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems. NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certification demonstrates a verified, nationally recognized level of technical knowledge in fire alarm design and systems. It matters to us because it matters to our clients, our inspectors, and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

NICET Level I:

Demonstrates foundational knowledge of fire alarm systems, codes, and terminology.

NICET Level II:

Demonstrates the ability to independently perform fire alarm work — inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and field verification — in compliance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes. Candidates without NICET certification who meet experience requirements are still encouraged to apply. We support our technicians in pursuing and achieving certification.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Install fire alarm control panels, initiating devices (smoke, heat, duct detectors, pull stations), and notification appliances (horns, strobes, speakers) per NFPA 72 and project specifications Perform annual and semi-annual fire alarm inspections and testing in compliance with

NFPA 72, NFPA

101, and local AHJ requirements Test emergency lighting and exit sign units per

NFPA 101

(monthly 30-second and annual 90-minute tests) Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm systems — identify faults, isolate zones, replace faulty devices, and restore systems to full operation Complete and submit accurate inspection reports, test records, and deficiency notices to clients Coordinate with clients, property managers, and general contractors on scheduling and access Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and keep tools and test equipment in proper working order Communicate clearly with the office on job status, parts needed, and any site issues

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR NICET

Level I or Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems — strongly preferred Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with fire alarm systems — installation, inspection, or service Solid working knowledge of NFPA 72 and

NFPA 101

Familiarity with major fire alarm manufacturers (Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, Bosch, or similar) Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and floor plans Experience with emergency lighting and exit light testing is a plus Strong communication skills — you'll interact directly with clients and property managers on each job Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying field conditions Professional, reliable, and safety-conscious

We install and service fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, exit signs, security cameras, access control, and low voltage infrastructure for commercial, residential, and industrial clients across Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. We are an NFPA member and operate in full compliance with state and local licensing requirements.

Pay:

$26.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
