City Fire & Safety Fire Alarm Inspector / Service Technician Gastonia, NC

• Lead role Position Summary City Fire & Safety is hiring an experienced, field-ready Fire Alarm Inspector / Service Technician. You'll perform annual inspections, diagnose and repair system issues, program panels, and keep our customers' life-safety systems operating at peak performance. We need a technician who can walk onto a job site, find and fix shorts and ground faults in a timely manner, and stand behind the quality of their work. This is a hands-on role for a skilled tech who takes pride in doing the job right the first time. What You'll Do Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on fire alarm systems — including control panels, initiating devices, notification devices, and electrical wiring — to confirm they're operating efficiently Find and fix shorts, ground faults, and wiring issues quickly and correctly Install and program new and existing fire alarm systems Troubleshoot and resolve alarm, supervisory, and trouble conditions Pull wire, install raceways, mount and program control panels Identify risks to customers and provide effective solutions Conduct routine preventive maintenance on fire alarm systems Monitor and maintain inventory of service parts Create and submit inspection reports and expense reports What You Need Fire alarm programming experience — required ~5+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, maintenance, or a related field Ability to use a tablet for reporting and documentation Valid driver's license High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Familiarity with hand and power tools Ability to handle a physical workload and carry/move equipment up to 30 lbs Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills Excellent work ethic, communication, time management, and attention to detail Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience and certifications, plus overtime.
