Responsibilities Install, inspect, test, and maintain fire suppression systems including sprinklers, sensors, and proprietary control panels in accordance with NFPA standards and local fire codes. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, and CAD drawings to accurately execute system design and installation plans. Conduct construction inspections to verify compliance with building codes and safety regulations during system installation or upgrades. Troubleshoot electrical issues using voltmeters, power tools, hand tools, and engineering troubleshooting techniques to resolve system malfunctions efficiently. Perform routine fire alarm system maintenance, including testing sensors, alarms, control panels, and low voltage wiring to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with clients to provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions, conducting system sales or upgrades, and ensuring client satisfaction. Adhere strictly to NFPA standards, fire codes and regulations while maintaining detailed documentation of all service activities for compliance purposes. Requirements Proven experience in fire alarm system installation, maintenance or service technician roles within construction or building service environments. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience; familiarity with electrical work including NEC (National Electrical Code) standards is essential. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and CAD files accurately for system design and troubleshooting. Knowledge of fire sprinkler fitting, sprinkler systems operation, sensors integration, and low voltage wiring techniques. Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and other field service equipment required for system installation and repair. Understanding of fire alarm systems including proprietary control panels as well as fire alarm sales processes is a plus. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Construction experience or prior service technician roles are highly desirable; familiarity with building code compliance is essential.
