Sunset Hill Restoration is seeking an auto body technician to perform light repairs and refinishing on restored cars: 1966-1972 Mustangs and other muscle cars. Work to be performed onsite in Redding CT. Work in conjunction with another team member depending on the scope of work.
Key Responsibilities:
Auto Body Repair & Refinishing Metal Fabrication & Panel Replacement:
Small repairs - weld, fabricate, fit floor pans, torque boxes, full quarter panels. Will have appropriate help.
Precision Panel Alignment:
Correct imperfections to achieve immaculate panel gaps, flush doors, and straight body lines.
Rust Remediation:
Safely remove, treat, and neutralize corrosion on unibody structures and exterior skins: small areas.
Cosmetic Repair:
Hammer out minor dents, shrink metal panels, apply and shape body fillers and perform minor plastic welding. Part R&I (Remove and Install): Remove and replace exterior trim, grilles, side-view mirrors, and bumpers to facilitate focused repairs or detailing.
Surface Preparation:
Sand, buff, and prime panels, as well as featheredge repaired areas to ensure a smooth, flawless surface before painting.
Required Skills Experience:
1-2 years of hands-on experience in auto body repair and refinishing.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift auto body parts, and work in environments exposed to dust and paint fumes.
Driver's License :
a reliable vehicle and auto insurance to travel to property locations.
Additional Responsibilities:
Building Restoration In addition to the auto body repair and refinishing, this position will perform general mechanical, restoration and construction work as needed on equipment and properties in Redding, Danbury, Bloomfield, Torrington, Manchester, and Bristol. Hours Full-time or part-time Flexible hours to accommodate a student or other employment. Salary Based on level of experience. Supplemental pay Discretionary Bonus Weekly partial fuel allowance if required to travel to property locations.
