Position:
Body Repair Technician ( Specializing in Body Repair )
Hours:
Mon. - Fri. 9 am to 6 pm (one hour lunch) & Sat. (10 am to 3 pm)
Responsibilities :
Collaborate with Service Advisor to assess vehicle damage prior to repair. Perform cosmetic repairs using specialized techniques and materials. Utilize appropriate equipment to restore damaged metal frames and body sections to their original specifications. Develop efficient methods for each repair job, ensuring effectiveness and quality. Identify all necessary repairs to minimize additional work and reduce repair time. Follow work orders meticulously, adhering to prescribed procedures for each operation. Disassemble vehicle components such as upholstery, accessories, and electrical systems as needed to access damaged areas. Repair damaged body and fenders by filling in dents with body filler or hammering out imperfections, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including welders, cutting torches, sanders, and spray guns. Expertly apply body filler to fill depressions and imperfections in vehicle surfaces. Remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills, and replace them with new parts as necessary, ensuring proper alignment and fit. Refine repaired surfaces by filing, grinding, and sanding with appropriate materials. Prepare vehicles for paint application by ensuring surfaces are smooth and free of imperfections.
Qualifications :
Prior experience or knowledge in automotive body repair, with a focus in utilizing body filler is preferred. There will be a six-week paid training period where our technicians will demonstrate proper techniques. Pay raise comes after training period and evaluation is complete. Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly used in body repair work. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship. Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to varying repair scenarios. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Willingness to learn and stay updated on industry trends and best practices in body repair techniques.
