Position Summary SoFlo Customs / Apocalypse Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Gloss Prep Technician to support our high-end paint operations. This role is critical in preparing vehicles for high-gloss, show-quality finishes on custom-built trucks and specialty vehicles. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in automotive surface preparation, sanding, and finishing , with a strong eye for detail and pride in craftsmanship. You will work alongside top-tier builders and painters to ensure every vehicle meets the exceptional standards expected by our clients. For candidates with leadership experience, there is potential growth into a Paint Shop Lead or Manager role , overseeing a small team and supporting production workflow. Key ResponsibilitiesSurface Preparation & Gloss Prep Perform detailed sanding, masking, and surface preparation for high-gloss paint applications Prepare vehicles for custom paint, ensuring surfaces are free of imperfections prior to paint application Inspect bodywork and surfaces to ensure readiness for final finishes Maintain consistency in prep quality across all vehicles Maintain a high standard of workmanship aligned with luxury and custom vehicle expectations Identify and correct imperfections before paint application Follow all shop standards, procedures, and safety protocols Work closely with fabrication, assembly, and paint teams to meet production timelines Communicate effectively regarding project status and readiness Contribute to a positive, high-performance team environment Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Properly handle and store materials, tools, and equipment Minimum 3-5 years of experience in automotive paint prep, sanding, and surface finishing Experience working with custom, luxury, or specialty vehicles strongly preferred Hands-on experience preparing surfaces for high-gloss finishes and/or LINE-X/Kevlar coatings Skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship Ability to identify surface imperfections and correct them effectively Knowledge of sanding techniques, fillers, primers, and prep materials Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment Physical Requirements Prolonged standing, bending, and working with hands Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed Use of protective equipment in a paint shop environment Work Environment Automotive paint shop setting with exposure to fumes, dust, and shop conditions Must follow all safety guidelines and use proper
