ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be expected to work on hulls, decks, small parts, sub-assemblies, and finished boats performing various duties, including but not limited to: Complete pre-spray evaluation of equipment and ensure use of proper gel coat coloring, thickness, and mixture. Gel coat spraying, re-spraying, patching, and blending. Clean, buffing/polishing, and waxing mold surfaces. Parts inspection and defect identification against a pre-established set of acceptance criteria, including tapping for air voids and conducting thorough visual inspections for all surface imperfections which might compromise the final aesthetic finish of the product. Surface preparation, fairing, and sanding using hand and pneumatic long-block and circular sanders. The use of putties and various compounds to perform fiberglass repairs. White and color gel coat repairs of defects associated with resin exotherm, through-prints, orange peel, fisheyes, mold marks, stress cracks, porosity, inclusions, scratches, and other. General production support functions. Operates and uses all equipment properly and safely. Maintains tools and keep equipment clean and in a proper state of repair. Keeps work area clean. Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in a manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to gel coat and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management. Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping. Required Skills Amongst the attributes and experience desired are the following:
  • 3 years doing gel coating or similar position preferred.
  • Acute attention to detail paramount.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings etc.
  • Ability in using small hand tools
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time, work independently with minimal supervision, and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
  • Ability to lift 50 lb.
  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to work in dusty environment and follow PPE guidelines.
Pay:
$25.42 - $32.00 per hour
