Position Overview:

E1 Auto Care is a family-owned, independent full-service repair shop in Arlington, TX, in business since 2017 with a team of 8-10. We work on all makes and have just moved into a new location with a dedicated paint booth. We are hiring an Auto Body Prep Technician to keep the painter and the shop moving — getting vehicles ready for paint, removing and installing parts, and keeping the booth and bays stocked and clean. We do not do frame repair. This is a hands-on prep role, not a detailing or car-wash job. We need someone with at least 2 years of verifiable experience in a body shop or collision center who can block, mask, and prime a panel correctly without being walked through it. If you list body shop skills but have no verifiable shop employment to back them, this role is not a fit.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare vehicles and parts for paint — sanding, feather-edging, blocking primer, masking, cleaning, and degreasing.
• Apply body filler to small dents and scratches and sand smooth; spray primer and sealer as directed by the painter.
• Remove and install bumpers, lights, mirrors, trim, moldings, and bolt-on panels before and after paint.
• Stage vehicles and parts so the painter always has the next job ready; move vehicles in and out of the booth.
• Keep the paint booth, mixing area, sanding stations, and bays clean and stocked with sandpaper, tape, and supplies.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of verifiable auto body or paint prep experience in a body shop or collision center — required.
• Solid sanding, masking, and priming skills; knows the difference between a panel that is ready for paint and one that is not.
• Comfortable removing and reinstalling exterior parts and trim without damage.
• Reliable, organized, and able to take direction from the painter and the service advisor.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
• Own tools preferred but not required — the shop provides the booth, spray equipment, and most tools.
• Able to lift approximately 50 lbs, be on your feet throughout the shift, and wear required PPE including a respirator.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Valid driver's license required.
• US work authorization required.
