Job Description

Cox Automotive is seeking a skilled Body Shop Prepper for our Manheim Hobby location. In this on-site role, you'll prepare vehicles for paint by sanding, masking, priming, and performing light body repairs to support fast-paced auction and reconditioning operations. You will follow repair orders, quality standards, and safety guidelines while collaborating with painters and technicians to keep work flowing efficiently. Responsibilities Prepare vehicle bodies for painting by sanding, masking, and priming surfaces Inspect vehicles for damage and repair needs prior to prep work Use body shop tools and equipment safely and correctly Follow repair orders and quality standards set by Cox Automotive and Manheim Coordinate with painters and technicians to ensure timely workflow Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Document work performed and report any additional damage found Follow all safety, environmental, and OSHA regulations Required Skills Automotive body prep Sanding and masking Priming and surface repair Use of body shop tools and equipment Automotive refinishing processes Safety and OSHA compliance Damage inspection and documentation Time management in high-volume shop Basic mechanical aptitude Attention to detail and quality control
