Haley Toyota of Roanoke is seeking an Auto Body Paint Prep person. The position is critical in ensuring vehicles receive a flawless and durable paint finish by meticulously preparing surfaces before painting. This role involves cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming vehicle bodies to create an optimal base for paint application, directly impacting the quality and longevity of the final product. The specialist will work closely with paint technicians and body repair teams to coordinate preparation tasks efficiently and maintain a smooth workflow. Responsibilities:

Inspect vehicle surfaces to identify areas requiring preparation such as dents, rust, or old paint removal.

Perform sanding, grinding, and cleaning of auto body surfaces to ensure smoothness and proper adhesion of paint.

Apply masking tape and protective coverings to areas not to be painted, ensuring clean paint lines and preventing overspray.

Mix and apply primers or sealers as needed to prepare surfaces for painting.

Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas to uphold safety and quality standards.

Collaborate with paint technicians and body repair staff to schedule and prioritize prep work.

Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations related to paint preparation and chemical handling.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience in auto body preparation or a related field.

Basic knowledge of sanding, masking, and priming techniques.

Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety guidelines.

Physical ability to perform manual tasks including standing, bending, and lifting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in auto body repair or paint preparation.

Familiarity with automotive paint systems and materials.

Experience using power sanding and masking tools.
