General Information:
Performs routine to moderately difficult work in the servicing and maintenance of automotive vehicles and other equipment under the supervision of the senior automotive mechanic.
Qualifications & Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 2 years of experience in general automotive repair, diesel engine, and automotive maintenance. Experience in electrical systems. Possess or be willing to obtain an Arizona School Bus Driver Certification. ASE Certified or willing to obtain certification in air conditioning systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally. Ability to use power tools, hand tools, electronic testing instruments, and hydraulics. Skills in anti-lock brake systems. Skills in computer diagnostics systems. Skills in wheelchair securement systems. Ability to perform minor and major repairs on vehicles. Ability to repair interior of vehicles. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members. Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies. Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response. Skills in time management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs inspections and completes maintenance, minor and major repairs, tune-ups, overhaul of engines, removal and repair of transmissions and differentials. Replaces or repairs defective parts and installs window glass. Repairs interior of vehicles. Maintains shop equipment and keeps work area clean. Makes service calls for emergency repairs. Checks automotive vehicles for safety compliance. Drives school bus on a route or fieldtrip as needed.
