Job Summary An established and growing automotive repair facility in Fountain Valley, CA is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Writer to join its service team on a temp-to-hire basis. This customer-facing role is ideal for a knowledgeable Service Advisor who understands automotive repair, communicates clearly with customers and technicians, and enjoys keeping a busy shop running smoothly. The Automotive Service Writer will serve as the primary liaison between customers, technicians, and parts support, helping ensure accurate repair orders, clear estimates, timely updates, and a professional customer experience from vehicle drop-off through pickup. Key Responsibilities Greet customers professionally, listen to concerns, document vehicle symptoms, and build strong customer relationships. Create repair orders, prepare accurate estimates, and present recommended repairs in a clear, ethical, and customer-focused manner. Coordinate workflow between customers, technicians, and the parts department to support efficient service delivery. Monitor repair progress, provide timely customer updates, and ensure authorization is obtained before work is performed. Schedule appointments, manage daily service workflow, and maintain accurate customer records, invoices, and repair documentation. Recommend preventative maintenance and additional repairs based on vehicle needs and technician findings.
