Responsibilities Perform comprehensive smog inspections on standard passenger cars to ensure compliance with state emissions regulations. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and automotive diagnostic equipment to accurately diagnose and repair vehicle systems. Conduct vehicle maintenance tasks including tire changes, fluid checks, and basic mechanical repairs using mechanical knowledge and automotive parts expertise. Inspect vehicles thoroughly for mechanical systems issues, electrical system faults, and safety concerns, documenting findings accurately. Assist customers with auto estimating, explaining repair needs clearly, and providing excellent customer service throughout the process. Use automotive electrical systems knowledge to troubleshoot and repair electrical components effectively. Conduct safety audits within the shop environment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of heavy lifting and power tools. Experience Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in automotive repair, vehicle inspections, and mechanical systems repair. Familiarity with standard passenger car operation and automotive tire change procedures. Knowledge of automotive parts and accessories to facilitate accurate repairs and replacements. Hands-on experience with auto estimating software is preferred but not required. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate power tools efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service skills combined with clear communication abilities to assist clients effectively. Prior experience working in an automotive service or repair shop is highly desirable.
