Full Job Description Wage:
$27- 32 per hour depending on experience.
Job Summary:
A Trailer Tanker Technician performs maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on tank trailers, which involves inspecting and servicing braking, electrical, and chassis systems; repairing and replacing components like brakes, tires, and axles; performing welding and fabrication; conducting preventive maintenance to meet DOT regulations; and completing detailed documentation of all work performed. They require mechanical aptitude, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to adhere to strict safety and regulatory guidelines. Key Accountabilities (Essential Functions): Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Diagnose and Repair:
Identify and fix problems with the mechanical, electrical, and structural components of trailers, which may require access to internal components of a tank trailer.Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance services, such as checking and servicing brakes, wheels, tires, and wheel bearings.Brake Systems:
Inspect, maintain, and repair trailer braking systems, including anti-lock braking systems and air brake components.Electrical & Safety:
Diagnose and repair electrical issues, as well as check and adjust protective guards and safety devices.Structural Repairs:
Perform repairs on the trailer's body and structural features, which may involve welding and fabrication of special attachments.System Diagnostics:
Utilize computer systems to diagnose complex issues within the trailer's systems.DOT Inspections:
Conduct and certify vehicle inspections, often including air brake and FHWA (Federal Highway Administration) inspections.Equipment Operation:
Operate hoists, hydraulic jacks, and other equipment to gain access to and work on the trailer's underside. The key accountabilities listed in this description represent the essential tasks of the position, but are not all-inclusive. The scope of tasks performed may vary regularly or occasionally, based on changing business requirements, varying staffing levels, other factors. Additional related tasks and miscellaneous duties may be assigned to this position by supervisory personnel as appropriate or necessary.Assigned Work Region:
Physical presence in assigned workplace of Henderson CO in shop area.General Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.Skills:
Basic mechanical aptitude and skills. Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbal). Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn. Trainable and dependable. Welding experience is a plus but will train. Computer knowledge.Knowledge:
Has the ability to identify and resolve complex problems based on extensive knowledge.Understanding of DOT hours of service and transportation regulations.
Experience:
2 years + Experience on tanker trailer repair.Scope of Responsibility:
Follows established procedures and policies, but may use some discretion in identifying, researching, and resolving problems. May prioritize tasks and time, with direction of supervisor. Errors have impact on organizations financial performance.Internal/External Contacts:
Communication is continuous and often complex, to resolve non-routine problems, provide direction, negotiate complex transactions, or convey highly specialized information.Unique Conditions:
