ABOUT THE POSITION RDI

Power is seeking an accomplished Senior Diesel Technician who specializes in advanced heavy-duty truck diagnostics and repair. This position is designed for the technician others turn to when a problem is difficult, intermittent, or has been misdiagnosed elsewhere. The ideal candidate uses testing and sound diagnostic processes to identify root causes, not guesswork or unnecessary parts replacement. You will diagnose, repair, and verify complex failures involving heavy-duty trucks, trailers, RVs, and related equipment. You will also document your findings clearly, help communicate repair recommendations, mentor developing technicians, and contribute to a culture built on integrity, accountability, safety, and exceptional workmanship.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS CDL

Extensive professional experience diagnosing and repairing medium- and heavy-duty trucks Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, fuel, emissions, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills, including wiring-diagram interpretation, circuit testing, voltage-drop testing, and intermittent-fault diagnosis Experience diagnosing CAN Bus, multiplex, module-communication, and network faults Strong diesel engine, fuel-system, and aftertreatment diagnostic experience Experience with air-brake and ABS diagnosis and repair Ability to produce accurate, detailed, and professional diagnostic documentation Ability to explain technical findings clearly to service advisors, managers, and customers Ability to perform repairs according to OEM procedures and verify results before releasing equipment Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record Ability to supply the professional hand tools required for the position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Approximately 10-15+ years of relevant heavy-duty diagnostic and repair experience, or an equivalent record of demonstrated technical mastery ASE Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician certification Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, Navistar, Caterpillar, or other relevant OEM training or certifications Experience with OEM diagnostic software, module programming, and service-information systems Advanced experience with DPF, SCR, DEF, and EGR systems Experience with transmissions, differentials, clutches, PTO systems, and driveline-vibration diagnosis HVAC diagnostic and repair experience Hydraulic and electric-over-hydraulic brake experience Fleet, dealership, independent repair, or field-service experience Previous lead-technician, shop-foreman, training, or mentoring experience

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Advanced Diagnostics and Repair Diagnose electrical, mechanical, fuel, emissions, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, brake, and driveline concerns Perform root-cause analysis on difficult, intermittent, or previously unresolved failures Diagnose CAN Bus, multiplex, wiring, sensor, actuator, and module-communication faults Diagnose diesel engine performance, common-rail fuel, injection, cooling, and internal mechanical concerns Diagnose DPF, SCR, DEF, EGR, and related aftertreatment failures Complete approved repairs according to OEM specifications and RDI Power quality standards Test and inspect completed work to confirm the original concern has been resolved Identify and immediately communicate safety-critical conditions Documentation and Communication Document the customer's concern, tests performed, readings obtained, findings, root cause, and recommended repair Create repair recommendations that clearly explain the condition, cause, correction, and consequences of postponing necessary work Communicate professionally with service advisors, management, customers, vendors, and other technicians Provide honest, accurate recommendations without overselling or recommending unnecessary repairs Keep the appropriate team members informed when a diagnosis, repair scope, or completion time changes Quality, Safety, and Productivity Balance productivity with thorough diagnostics and high-quality workmanship Follow company safety policies, environmental requirements, and OEM repair procedures Protect customer vehicles, equipment, and property Maintain an organized and professional work area Care for company tools, diagnostic equipment, and service information Reduce preventable comebacks through accurate diagnosis, careful workmanship, and documented quality-control checks Take ownership of errors and participate constructively in determining corrective action Leadership and Team Development Assist other technicians with difficult diagnostic and repair challenges Mentor apprentice, entry-level, and mid-level technicians Model professionalism, accountability, humility, and respect Share technical knowledge and support ongoing training Recommend process improvements that strengthen quality, efficiency, communication, and customer satisfaction

COMPENSATION

This position combines competitive hourly pay with performance-based compensation.

Base hourly rate:

$35.00-$38.00, based on demonstrated experience, diagnostic ability, certifications, and overall fit Performance-pay opportunities may recognize diagnostic accuracy, documented productivity, repair quality, customer experience, leadership, mentorship, and other established performance measures Applicable certification-pay opportunities Overtime eligibility in accordance with company policy and applicable law Top-performing technicians may have the opportunity to earn total annual compensation of $90,000-$125,000 or more. Total compensation is not guaranteed and depends on hours worked, eligibility, individual results, company performance, and the terms of RDI Power's written incentive plan.

The employee must be able to perform the essential duties of a heavy-duty repair technician, with or without reasonable accommodation.
