About BCI Brothers' Construction, Inc. (BCI) is a Stuart, Florida-based heavy civil and marine contractor specializing in marina construction, docks and piers, seawalls, piling, dredging, and related waterfront infrastructure. The fleet includes:
crawler, friction, and hydraulic cranes; barges; tugboats and workboats; excavators, loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and other yellow iron; diesel trucks, service trucks, trailers, generators, compressors, pumps, hydraulic power units, pile-driving support equipment, and miscellaneous small equipment. The Position This position requires an experienced mechanic with strong judgment and follow-through. The successful candidate must balance preventive maintenance with urgent field repairs, establish the right priorities, and communicate equipment status clearly. Primary Responsibilities Manage the daily maintenance and repair workload across BCI's marine and land-based fleet. Set priorities based on safety, project impact, urgency, and available resources. Maintain and execute preventive-maintenance and inspection schedules for each asset. Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, outboard engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, brakes, steering, cooling systems, A/C systems, and related components. Troubleshoot cranes, barges, boats, piledriving equipment, yellow iron, trucks, trailers, generators, pumps, compressors, and construction support equipment. Respond to field breakdowns and minimize equipment and crew downtime. Perform repairs in BCI's shop, equipment yards, on barges, and at active marine construction sites. Maintain clear service records, inspection reports, repair histories, upcoming maintenance lists, and equipment-status updates. Manage parts, fluids, filters, tools, and shop supplies. Coordinate specialty vendors and outside repairs when that is the safest or most efficient approach. Report major repair needs, costs, expected downtime, and fleet risks. Keep the shop, service vehicles, tools, parts, and field work areas safe, clean, and organized. Required Qualifications At least 10 years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment, commercial vehicles, marine equipment, or a comparable fleet. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and complete work with limited supervision. Strong planning, time-management, troubleshooting, and follow-through skills. Working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and modern diagnostic equipment. Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and diagnostic reports. Ability to safely work outdoors, aboard barges and boats, around active equipment, and in physically demanding positions. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications Experience with cranes, marine equipment, workboats, barges, pile-driving equipment, and heavy civil construction fleets. ASE, DOT, diesel technology, A/C, welding, crane, hydraulic, or equipment-specific training or certifications. Basic fabrication and welding capabilities. Experience managing maintenance records, parts inventory, vendors, and outside repair services. Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Work Area & Conditions BCI's primary operations are based in Stuart, Florida. Project and equipment locations generally range from Hollywood to Fort Pierce. Regular travel to active job sites and equipment locations is required. Work may take place in the shop, outdoors, aboard barges or boats, and around active marine construction operations.
