Overview The CDL Route Driver / Equipment Service Technician is responsible for safely collecting used cooking oil from customer locations, servicing grease collection equipment, and delivering and retrieving used cooking oil containers. This position operates both pump trucks and flatbed or semi trucks to provide reliable, professional service while maintaining excellent customer relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Used Cooking Oil Collection Operate a vacuum/pump truck to collect used cooking oil from customer storage tanks. Monitor tank levels and service customer accounts according to established route schedules. Inspect tanks, fittings, hoses, valves, and pumps for leaks or damage during each service. Accurately document gallons collected and complete required paperwork or electronic route logs. Report damaged tanks, equipment issues, or customer concerns to management. Tank Delivery & Equipment Service Deliver, install, relocate, and remove used cooking oil collection tanks at customer locations. Safely load and unload tanks using lift gates, pallet jacks, dollies, forklifts, or other material handling equipment. Ensure tanks are properly positioned, level, clean, and ready for customer use. Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on tanks and collection equipment as needed. Maintain an organized inventory of replacement tanks and service equipment. Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks including front loader, rear loader, roll-off, dump trucks, and tractor-trailers to collect and transport waste materials. Load and unload waste containers using front-end loaders or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper handling and safety compliance. Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on garbage trucks and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met. Adhere strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, traffic laws, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols during all driving and operational activities. Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients during pickups and drop-offs, addressing concerns promptly. Maintain accurate logs of routes driven, loads collected, maintenance performed, and any incidents or safety concerns encountered during shifts. Assist with outdoor work tasks such as heavy lifting, equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, and ensuring the worksite remains safe and organized. Requirements Valid CDL license with necessary endorsements for operating front loader trucks, rear loader trucks, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, flatbeds, or tractor-trailers. Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on solid waste management or municipal waste collection. Knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, air brake systems, manual transmissions, and hazardous materials regulations. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty equipment. Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence and defensive driving techniques to ensure personal safety and that of colleagues. Outdoor work experience preferred; ability to lift heavy loads regularly and work in varying weather conditions. Excellent customer service skills combined with clear communication abilities. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; previous delivery driver experience is a plus.
