Bill's Lawn Maintenance & Landscaping Inc. is looking for an experienced Fleet & Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair our trucks, landscaping equipment, and snow removal equipment, while also overseeing the organization of our shop, yard, tools, and parts inventory. A minimum of 3 years of experience working in the landscaping industry is required. We are looking for someone who understands the equipment, demands, and day-to-day operations of a busy landscaping and snow removal company. Equipment You'll Work On Pickup trucks and work trucks Dump trucks Commercial zero-turn and walk-behind mowers Bobcats / skid steers Snow plows Salt spreaders and salters Trailers Small engines and other landscaping equipment Mechanical Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems Perform preventative maintenance and routine service Repair trucks, dump trucks, mowers, Bobcats/skid steers, and other equipment Troubleshoot and repair snow plows and salt spreaders Perform oil changes, brake repairs, fluid changes, belts, batteries, and general repairs Diagnose breakdowns and get equipment back into service as quickly as possible Inspect vehicles and equipment regularly and identify problems before they result in breakdowns Prepare and maintain snow equipment before and throughout the winter season Maintain service and repair records for company vehicles and equipment Shop, Yard & Inventory Responsibilities Maintain an organized, clean, and functional shop and yard Keep tools, equipment, parts, and supplies properly organized Order parts, filters, fluids, repair supplies, and other necessary items Maintain inventory of commonly used parts and supplies Maintain an inventory of company tools assigned to landscaping crews Track tools and equipment issued to and returned by crews Identify missing, damaged, or worn-out tools and equipment Make sure crews have the necessary tools and equipment before leaving for jobs Organize seasonal equipment, snow equipment, attachments, and parts Occasionally pick up and deliver materials, parts, tools, or equipment as needed Assist with other company tasks from time to time when additional help is needed Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience working in the landscaping industry - REQUIRED Professional mechanic/equipment repair experience Experience working on trucks, dump trucks, and commercial landscaping equipment Experience with diesel and gasoline engines Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems Experience repairing commercial mowers and small engines Experience with snow plows and salt spreaders strongly preferred Ability to independently diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems Strong organizational skills and ability to manage parts and tool inventory Valid driver's license Welding/fabrication experience is a plus Spanish-speaking is a plus Must be a team player and willing to help wherever needed Must be dependable, organized, and able to work independently What We're Looking For This is more than a basic mechanic position . We need someone who understands landscaping operations and can take ownership of keeping our fleet and equipment operational while also keeping the shop, yard, parts, and crew tools organized. We are looking for a team player with a hands-on attitude . While the primary responsibility is maintaining and repairing our fleet and equipment, everyone helps where needed. From time to time, this may include picking up or delivering materials, parts, tools, or equipment, or assisting with other operational needs. The right person should be able to recognize what needs attention without constantly being told — whether that means diagnosing a truck problem, repairing a mower, preparing snow equipment for an upcoming storm, ordering parts, or making sure crew tools and equipment are accounted for and ready to go. Full-time, year-round position
