Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Preventative Maintenance and Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team and help keep our trucks and heavy equipment operating safely and reliably. This position is about more than changing oil and greasing equipment, we need someone who knows trucks and heavy equipment, pays attention to the small details, and can recognize problems before they become major repairs or costly downtime. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our heavy equipment, trucks, and industrial machinery through proactive maintenance practices. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly, efficiently, and safely. Our drivers and operators perform their required pre-trip and post-trip inspections, but we are looking for someone with the mechanical knowledge to take that inspection one step further and identify issues that may not be obvious during a routine walk-around. Duties Perform regular oil changes, filter changes, routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery to prevent breakdowns. Grease all fittings and lubrication points on semi trucks, trailers and heavy equipment. Conduct mechanical repairs including transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, brakes, shocks & struts, and electrical systems on various vehicles and equipment. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately and execute repairs efficiently. Check fluid levels and conditions Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and perform heavy lifting to complete maintenance tasks. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards. Help prioritize repairs based on safety, urgency, and potential for additional damage Assist with fabrication tasks as needed for equipment modifications or repairs. Support vehicle systems maintenance including air brakes, alignments, tire service, HVAC systems, and diesel engine repairs. Experience Proven experience in dealership or heavy equipment maintenance with a strong mechanical background. Familiarity with automotive diagnostics, electrical systems repair, welding, and fabrication techniques. Hands-on experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and other industrial equipment. Knowledge of schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety compliance. Prior service technician experience in fleet or industrial vehicle maintenance is highly preferred. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors. Experience with the following is a plus:
