Supervisor of Fleet & Facilities Services Town of Brookline - 3.7 Chestnut Hill, MA Job Details Full-time $97,059 - $102,335 a year 1 hour ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Pension plan Vision insurance Qualifications 5 years Senior level Communication skills Full Job Description Brookline DPW's Highway, Sanitation and Fleet Services division seeks a Supervisor of Fleet & Facilities Services to oversee the repair, maintenance, and acquisition of Town vehicles and equipment — including Water & Sewer Enterprise assets — and to manage the security, upkeep, and repair of all Department of Public Works facilities and satellite locations.
Key Responsibilities include:
Administering a comprehensive fleet management program that tracks service and replacement cycles for all Town vehicles and equipment. Researching best practices, developing policy, and implementing new technologies that support operational efficiency and sustainability goals. Participating in long-range financial and capital planning and supporting grant writing, research, and grant administration. Managing the fleet and facilities maintenance program budget, monitoring expenditures, preparing purchase orders, and overseeing inventory controls. Supervising, training, and evaluating Fleet and Facilities Services staff; participating in hiring and disciplinary processes; overseeing payroll. Ensuring operational compliance with regulations related to fueling facilities, hazardous materials, vehicle inspection, emissions, disposal, recycling, and employee training. Establishing and maintaining safety programs, conducting safety appraisals at all satellite locations, and taking corrective action as needed. Maintaining records and preparing reports, including monthly operational reports and daily inventory reviews. Overseeing automated fueling systems, fuel allocation programs, and EV charging infrastructure. Preparing vehicle, equipment, and facility specifications; developing RFPs and bid documents; ensuring contract compliance and monitoring warranties. Responding to staff, resident, and agency inquiries, concerns, and complaints. Staying current with emerging technologies, procedures, and best practices within the industry. Performing off-hours and emergency duties as required.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business administration, automotive technology, or a related field preferred; five to seven years of municipal public works experience, including at least three years in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance, property management, and database operations; excel in budget management and analysis; possess excellent computer, communication, and interpersonal skills; be able to operate light, heavy, and specialized motor equipment; and bring strong leadership, supervisory, and technical abilities suited to a complex operational environment with emergency-response demands.
Pay and Benefits:
