Automotive Technician /Mechanic Employment:
Full-Time Unifix AutoCare is looking for an experienced, dependable, and skilled Automotive Technician/Mechanic to join our team. We are looking for someone who can do more than basic maintenance. The ideal candidate should be comfortable diagnosing vehicle problems, performing mechanical repairs, and completing jobs independently from diagnosis through final repair. Responsibilities & Capabilities The technician should have experience with: Gasoline engine diagnosis and repair Engine mechanical repairs, including timing components, gaskets, seals, oil leaks, cooling issues, and internal engine components Automatic and manual transmission diagnosis, service, removal, and replacement Check-engine-light and drivability diagnostics Professional scan tools, DTC diagnosis, and live-data analysis Electrical diagnosis, including batteries, alternators, starters, wiring, sensors, relays, fuses, and parasitic draws Fuel and ignition systems, including fuel pumps, injectors, coils, spark plugs, and related components Brake systems, including pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, and ABS Steering and suspension, including shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, and related components Cooling systems, including radiators, water pumps, thermostats, hoses, cooling fans, and overheating diagnosis HVAC and A/C diagnosis and repair Exhaust and emissions systems CV axles, driveshafts, differentials, and other drivetrain components Preventive maintenance (PM), including oil changes, filters, fluid services, belts, hoses, tune-ups, tire rotations, and scheduled maintenance Complete vehicle inspections and identification of safety or mechanical concerns Test driving vehicles before and after repairs to confirm proper operation Qualifications Previous professional automotive repair experience is required Strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities Must have experience working on gasoline-powered vehicles Must be able to diagnose problems instead of simply replacing parts Ability to perform repairs independently with minimal supervision Ability to properly use diagnostic equipment, shop tools, lifts, and repair equipment Must maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Must be dependable, responsible, and able to complete assigned jobs efficiently Must be able to communicate clearly regarding diagnosis, required parts, and recommended repairs Certifications ASE certifications are preferred but not required. ASE certifications in Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Brakes, Suspension & Steering, and Engine Performance are especially desirable. EPA Section 609 A/C certification is also a plus. What We Are Looking For We want a real automotive technician who understands how vehicles work and knows how to diagnose problems correctly.
